Education & Training:
Dr. Pietrucha graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. At IWU she was the captain of the softball team and earned a 3rd Place finish in the 2003 Division III World Series. She pursued her graduate education at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology/Argosy University, Chicago and graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
She completed an APA approved pre-doctoral internship at Illinois State University's Student Counseling Services where she specialized in providing consultation services for the athletics department and in the treatment of eating disorders. After graduation, Dr. Pietrucha continued to specialize in working with young adults, eating disorders, and college athletics during her post-doctoral training at Elmhurst College Counseling Services. Dr. Pietrucha also holds a certification in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Experience: Dr. Pietrucha has been practicing in the Chicago area serving adults with a variety of concerns related to emotional health, physical health, overall wellness, and athletic performance. She has previously provided clinical services in a number of settings including: university counseling centers, a non-profit mental health agency serving cancer survivors, weight-loss coaching for adolescents, and an intensive outpatient mental health clinic for eating disorders and weight management.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Pietrucha has taught graduate-level courses in sport psychology and undergraduate courses in human development, psychopathology, and clinical and counseling theory.
She has worked with collegiate-level athletes at Division I and Division III institutions, high school teams, and recreational fitness programs providing individual and group mental skills training for athletic performance, weight management, and fitness adherence. Dr. Pietrucha has been a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) for over 10 years and continues to volunteer with the organization.
Clinical Interest Areas & Specializations: Dr. Pietrucha’s clinical interests include the treatment of eating and body image concerns, young adult development, relationship issues, stress management, coping with life transitions, depression, anxiety, health and wellness, sport psychology, performance enhancement, and consultation. Dr. Pietrucha’s approach to counseling is individualized to fit the unique needs of each client and the client’s personal goals.
Dr. Pietrucha considers herself to be a lifelong learner, dog lover, and sports enthusiast. She continues to compete in a competitive volleyball league, run half marathons and triathlons, and enjoys spending free time with family, friends, and (of course) her dog.
